The city of Erie is located in Erie County which is Pennsylvania’s northwesternmost county. Erie County makes up 514,484 acres (803.88 square miles) of northwestern Pennsylvania.

A City on the Bay  Erie is the only city in Pennsylvania located on a major body of water. Much of the shoreline borders Presque Isle Bay which gives Erie the nickname "The Bay City."
