When Bob Macyko needed a job in 2000 and didn't want to move from the Erie area, he decided to use the precision machining skills, the expert mentoring, and the valuable connections he had acquired during a 17-year career at General Electric to start his own machine shop.

Windsor Beach Technologies, named after Macyko's former place of residence, started out with just three machines, himself, and a lot of hard work. Today, with 50 CNC machines and 45 employees, Windsor Beach Technologies is an AS9100, ISO 9001, and ISO 13485 certified supplier of assemblies and components to approximately 50 customers, primarily in the medical and aerospace industries.

Macyko built Windsor Beach's superior reputation through strict attention to continuous improvement in quality, delivery, and costs; through an investment in state-of-the-art equipment; and by cross-training employees in the use of all machines in all departments so they can pitch in wherever and whenever needed.

“I look for people who will come in to work every day, who are willing to learn, and who know how to pay attention to detail,” says Macyko of his employees. “Most of our customers are in the medical and aerospace industries, so precision is a key factor in making quality components for them and we can't afford any mistakes.”

Windsor Beach Technologies' 28,000-square-foot facility, which was recently expanded by an 8,000-square-foot addition to accommodate its growing business, supports a complete range of machining capabilities including Swiss turning, CNC (computer numerical control) milling and turning, water-jetting, grinding, and laser marking.

Windsor Beach Technologies is also a generous supporter of local community charities such as Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Make a Wish, American Cancer Society, Animal Shelter and the Barber Center. When Bob Macyko needed a job in 2000 and didn't want to move from the Erie area, he decided to use the precision machining skills, the expert mentoring, and the valuable connections he had acquired during a 17-year career at General Electric to start his own machine shop.
