Thompson in 1932, with Dan Reese taking the helm in 1975, General Exterminating is now celebrating 81 years in business and 4 generations of impeccable service. Jim and Donna Reese currently own this ever-evolving company. They share a great working relationship. For the past 23 years, they have changed with the times, redefining how pest control is done throughout the Erie area.

Over the years, much of their competition have landed themselves in the bug zapper, but General Exterminating has illustrated the capability to thrive. Business has been so successful for these partners that they are now able to bring the 4th generation of family into their business.

Donna Reese says, “It's a parent's dream to have your kids be partners, and years from now, they'll be taking over for Jim and myself.” Son Ryan Reese was the first of two brothers to step into the family business. When Ryan graduated from Mercyhurst University, the company was approaching some tough decisions. Ryan saw the need to help grow the family business. Eventually, Donna hopes to hand over all the computer and business concepts of the company to Ryan. Donna and Jim's other son, Shane, is currently a student at Mercyhurst University, majoring in business — in hopes of bringing that knowledge to the family firm as well.
