Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, is a unique learning and research environment that provides the opportunities of a major university within a welcoming, student-centered college of 4,300 undergraduate and graduate students. A ratio of one faculty member to every sixteen students demonstrates a commitment to individual success.

At the undergraduate level, Penn State Behrend offers more than 40 degrees in the humanities, sciences, social sciences, business and engineering. The college has eight unique programs within the Penn State system, including interdisciplinary degrees in business with engineering studies and arts administration, B.S. degrees in software engineering and plastics engineering technology, and a B.F.A. in creative writing, plus master's degrees in business administration and project management. Students can supplement any degree with additional minors and certificates that tailor an outstanding Penn State Behrend education to meet specific career interests or professional goals.

Penn State Behrend's wooded 854-acre campus is a recognized arboretum; it's also home to more than 1,700 students living in traditional residence halls, suites, and newly renovated apartments. Engagement is expected; students' out-of-class learning experiences include 110 clubs and organizations, musical ensembles, theatre, twenty-two NCAA Division III athletic teams, intercollegiate athletics, and intramural sports. Undergraduate research is highly encouraged and supported with nearly $350,000 in annual grants made to students who pursue original scholarship or assist faculty members with on-going projects.

More than two dozen outreach centers, programs, and initiatives are funded through Penn State Behrend to serve the educational and economic needs of the Erie region, including Pennsylvania Sea Grant and the Susan Hirt Hagen CORE (Community Outreach, Research, and Evaluation). Knowledge Park, a 100-acre next-generation technology park adjacent to campus, fosters academic-industrial relationships in a mutually beneficial open-lab environment.
