Even in an age of mass-produced furniture and cabinetry, there are still consumers who prefer the precision and attention to detail involved in custom-made woodwork. Bay City Millwork fills that niche by concentrating on creating top-quality hand-crafted wood interior finishings.

Bay City Millwork specializes in producing customized millwork items such as cabinets, reception desks, wainscoting, hand carvings, acoustical ceilings, plastic laminate cabinetry, 32-millimeter cabinetry, and glass and acrylic displays for commercial clients such as schools and universities, law offices, and physician's offices.

For residential customers, Bay City Millwork has created home offices, room additions, kitchen /bathroom /basement remodels, fitted cabinets, fireplace mantles and units, engineered flooring, and customized furniture such as armoires, bookcases, cabinets, desks, dressers, tables, vanities, and wall units.

Bay City Millwork was established at 959 West 12th Street in 2009 by Elmer Perschka and his sister, Gail Pangborn. “Elmer has been involved in woodworking his whole life and always wanted to use his knowledge about it to go out on his own and provide the kind of quality workmanship and service he knows best,” says Elmer's other sister, Cindy Becker.

Besides Cindy and Gail, other family members who work in various positions at Bay City Millwork include Gail's husband Thomas and Elmer's brother Ken. They have also assembled a skilled team of 15 employees, many of whom are former co-workers of Elmer who joined him in his new venture.

Bay City Millwork's expert craftsmen can produce millwork products in any period style, or can help design a totally unique look. They can also provide a variety of fine finishes on their products such as lacquer or latex.

“We like to say that if you can dream it, we can design and build it,” says Cindy. “Everything we make is hand-crafted here in the USA, and we're committed to providing personalized service.” Even in an age of mass-produced furniture and cabinetry, there are still consumers who prefer the precision and attention to detail involved in custom-made woodwork.
