Bill Schaal, Sr.'s childhood fascination with trucks led him to a unique assignment while he was serving overseas in the military. “During World War II, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where I helped manage a Navy motor pool,” he says. “I got to service and drive the entire fleet of Navy vehicles over there.”

After returning and working for his neighbor's trucking business, Schaal and a business partner purchased Team Hardinger in 1969. “With deregulation in the 1980s, we had a chance to apply for operating authority throughout the United States and into Canada for truckload transportation,” Schaal says. “From there, we took off.” “With the dedicated trucking we provide, you can rent the truck, trailer and driver for whatever you need,” says Harold (H.) Bender, Team Hardinger's general manager. From its transportation roots sprang warehousing services, which have driven the value for customers by integrating the two services.

Now, Team Hardinger Transportation & Warehousing provides 65 power units and 250 trailers for your industrial and commercial transportation needs. Customers that require bulk, racked, or food grade space can count on Team Hardinger to provide a solution within its almost 500,000 square feet of space at any of its three locations — Erie's west side, east side and in Grove City, PA. Team Hardinger also provides many integral value-added services to customers. “We do industrial painting and washing, large part washing, and we assemble kits and build crates to export your product, just to name a few,” says Schaal. The cost savings from integrating transportation, warehousing and value-added services has enabled Team Hardinger's customers to compete globally.

Team Hardinger also provides a unique warehousing option for its customers. “We have foreign trade zone warehousing, which can reduce a customer's Customs processing fees and defer their duty payments until the merchandise is used or shipped domestically,” says Bender. “These services, systems, processes, and the technology to coordinate it all are on par with the top 50 providers in the country,” Bender adds. “But — through us — you get the added benefit of working with a world class company that is family-owned and committed to your needs.”Bill Schaal, Sr.'s childhood fascination with trucks led him to a unique assignment while he was serving overseas in the military. “During World War II, I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, where I helped manage a Navy motor pool,” he says. “I got to service and drive the entire fleet of Navy vehicles over there.”
